Position Overview:

 

At American Licorice, we focus on creating happy consumer experiences through our brands and products.  The Data Analyst is a member of the Marketing Department, supporting the organization analyzing data to find growth opportunities. This individual gathers data on consumers, shoppers, retailers, markets and competitors; putting that data into sharable, useable format.  The Data Analyst collaborates with other members of the team to support the needs of internal clients at American Licorice. This role is expected to be a curious, engaged and active participant of the business, consistently contributing fact-based information and insights that will benefit the business.    Fundamentally, the associate in this role is a learner who helps American Licorice learn more about consumers as well.  The Data Analyst role primarily gathers data and custom research, including quantitative and qualitative research, to achieve objectives.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

Inquiring

 

  • Gathers and formats custom data including, IRI, Nielsen, consumer and shopper analytics, google analytics, eCommerce data, POS data, etc.
  • Assists Marketing team with requests for sales, product and consumer data.
  • Creates models to best share data to internal clients.
  • Assists in linking custom and syndicated data to provide a holistic perspective
  • Using data and analysis to support brand selling stories
  • Assists with the creation of Brand presentations
  • Provides support to the department by managing consumer related mailings

 

Educating

 

  • Is proficient at translating findings into graph and other pictorial support
  • Able to clearly communicate the meaning of the data
  • Finds ways to make the data more compelling to various audiences via live and recorded presentations
  • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
  • Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner
  • Organize ideas and information logically and sequentially

 

Recommending

 

  • Transforms data into a useful business format in a variety of areas, including product, positioning, promotion, pricing and placement recommendations

Organizing and Managing Resources

 

  • Is responsible for constructing and delivering accurate, honest and timely performance management documents
  • Assesses problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
  • Ensures that quality and timeliness of deliverables meet expectations
  • Comfortable developing, testing and refining analytical frameworks
  • Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them
  • Delivers data to Brand teams, Consumer Communications team and Sales team on time
  • Responsible for food safety, as required by position

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Travel Requirement is 25%
  • 1-2 years of experience in Consumer Packaged Goods or Services, or analytical related role
  • Capable of analyzing quantitative inputs, producing quantitative outputs in a format easy for others to understand
  • Must be able to demonstrate data interpretation capabilities (Exposure to analytical course work, a plus)
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to relate results to client business objectives
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Thrives in a fast paced, constantly changing environment; can adapt plans due to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum
  • Creative problem solver
  • Comfortable with a variety of analytical platforms and quick to learn technologies and supporting analytical tools, techniques
  • Experience with online ad measurement terms and tools a plus
  • Experience with syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen, NPD) a plus
  • A knowledge of working with large relational data sets a plus
  • Understanding of CPG brand marketing helpful, including positioning, product, packaging, pricing, promotion and placement
