Position Overview:

 

The Sr. Business Manager role is responsible for profitable sales growth and brand development in select U.S channels including Discount and Military, as well as Costco.  This role will also be responsible for launching our brands in International markets.   The position also manages the Military broker. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • The position will be responsible for establishing sales and profit goals, achievement of distribution and product placement quotas, and successful management of multi-level contacts within assigned accounts in Discount and Military Channels and Costco.
  • Development of goals and objectives (sales and spend) for accounts in alignment with corporate goals, and collaboration with broker partners.
  • Work through Brokers to maximize Broker capabilities and strengths to develop each COT business. Direct responsibility for management of the Military Broker.
  • Share best business practices proactively with Candy Alliance partners. Attend Candy Alliance meetings.
  • Establish short term objectives and long term strategies for Channels’ growth.
  • Monitor trade spend – ongoing involvement with channel trade spend criteria and budgets.
  • Involvement with major account promotional spend evaluations as needed.
  • Research and develop business plan for educating ALC in requirements and potential opportunities in new International markets  
  • Research, interview, and manage new broker and distributor relationships as needed for International business
  • Work cross functionally in development of International plan, including setting expectations for projects involving other departments
  • Participation in annual planning; develop volume objectives, ensure accuracy and timelines are met, help guide and develop channel and key account strategies. 
  • Generate and analyze data, both IRI and Point of Sale for use in fact based selling. 
  • Understand and manage Profit and Losses for accounts.
  • Expert on Discount and Military & Club – share information and changes in retail landscape and market place conditions
  • Evaluate and communicate new product opportunities (esp. for Discount) through understanding of marketplace and industry changes. Ensure products meet needs of accounts.
  • Participate in Industry and trade event/shows for continual education and communicate updates back to company
  • Responsible for Food Safety as related to position.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Six to nine plus years of sales management experience in a CPG company.
  • Experience with International brand launch
  • Direct selling experience to top National accounts.
  • Strong experience in MS Office and IRI/Nielsen scan data required.
  • Approximately 50%- 75% travel- including HQ in LaPorte, IN and International markets

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve complex issues. 
  • Demonstrate a high level of independence and self-motivation; Take initiative and show resourcefulness while working in a flexible team environment.
  • Experience in generating, interpreting, and analyzing syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen, Retail link, etc.) and have used forecasting software.
  • Computer proficient with ability to comprehend new systems.
